Pre-Marital Counselling Workshop
An interactive pre-marital counselling session with students and parents at Manghanmal Udharam College of Commerce, Pimpri.
Manghanmal Udharam College of Commerce, Pimpri (Pune), invited Punam J to facilitate a guest session on Pre-Marital Counselling for undergraduate students. The session was thoughtfully designed to create awareness around relationships, marriage expectations, communication, emotional readiness, and responsible decision-making.
What made this session especially meaningful was the participation of both students and their parents. The open interaction between generations allowed for healthy discussions around marriage, changing perspectives, emotional understanding, and mutual respect.
The session encouraged participants to reflect on real-life relationship dynamics rather than idealized notions of marriage. Through discussion-based learning and practical insights, students and parents were able to explore important topics such as expectations, adjustment, communication, and emotional maturity before marriage.
With an audience of 150+ participants, the session turned into an engaging and enriching experience, marked by active participation, thoughtful questions, and open conversations. It was a valuable step toward building awareness and emotional preparedness among young adults and their families.
Statewide Conference | Domestic Violence & Legal Awareness (May 2023)
I was honoured to be invited by Sanath Welfare Foundation as a speaker at their Statewide Conference to address the sensitive and crucial topic of Domestic Violence and related laws. The session focused on creating awareness, breaking myths, and helping women understand their rights within family and marital relationships.
What made this experience truly meaningful was the interaction that followed. Many women openly shared their concerns and asked thoughtful questions around married life, emotional companionship, parenting challenges, and personal well-being. The space felt safe, honest, and deeply connected.
The warmth, courage, and participation of these women left a lasting impact on me. Moments like these reaffirm why awareness, dialogue, and emotional support at the grassroots level matter so much. Grateful for the trust and the opportunity to contribute to change.
Panel Member – Maharashtra State Women Commission, Pune
Panel Member – Maharashtra State W C, Pune
I was honored to serve as a Panel Member at the Public Hearing organized by the Maharashtra State Women Commission in Pune under the initiative “Mahila Aayog Aaplya Dari.”
This initiative, led by Chairperson Ms. Rupali Chakankar, brings the Women Commission directly to the people—creating an accessible platform where women can voice their concerns, seek guidance, and receive timely support.
As part of the panel, I engaged closely with women facing complex personal, social, and legal challenges. The hearing involved sensitive discussions around domestic issues, safety, rights, and emotional well-being, where a compassionate, balanced, and practical approach was essential.
Being part of this forum reaffirmed my belief in the importance of integrating mental health perspectives with legal and social support systems. It was a meaningful experience to contribute professionally while ensuring that every woman felt heard, respected, and supported.

The training encouraged participants to reflect on their thought patterns, emotional responses, and communication habits that often affect workplace harmony and mental well-being.
Using real-life workplace situations, reflective questioning techniques, and psychologically grounded discussions, the session created a meaningful balance between learning and emotional engagement. Participants explored themes such as emotional pressure, expectations, work-life balance, self-awareness, and healthy interpersonal behavior. Adolescent Pregnancy Awareness & Emotional Support Workshop
6-Day Workshop Series for Girls under Care & Protection Services
A 6-day workshop series was conducted at different Care & Protection centers for adolescent girls, focusing on the emotional, psychological, and physical impact of early pregnancy and premature motherhood. The sessions explored challenges such as emotional distress, low self-esteem, social pressure, isolation, and uncertainty about the future, while also discussing the physical health risks associated with adolescent pregnancy.
The workshops created a safe and supportive space for participants to openly express themselves and engage in discussions around emotional resilience, confidence building, self-development, and coping with difficult life situations. Career Counseling Workshop for Children in Conflict with Law
3 Days Workshop Series Conducted in Nagpur, Maharashtra
A full-day Career Counseling workshop was conducted in a Child Care Institution in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in collaboration with Miracle Foundation. The workshop focused on helping children explore future opportunities, self-development, confidence building, and the importance of guidance in shaping their lives positively. Through interactive discussions and activities, participants were encouraged to reflect on their abilities, interests, emotional struggles, and future aspirations.
The workshop also highlighted an important social perspective — children are not born as “criminals”; rather, difficult life situations and circumstances may lead them into conflict with the law. Under the legal framework, such children are referred to as “Children in Conflict with Law.” Spending time with these children through meaningful conversations reinforced the understanding that many of them need emotional support, direction, opportunities, and guidance far more than punishment.

SWAYAM - National Training Program
(Case Work Strategies & Law)
Kolkata | 2020 & 2022
I was deeply grateful to be part of the National Training Program on Case Work Strategies, Law, and Mental Health Awareness, organised by SWAYAM in Kolkata. Attending this intensive training in 2020 and again in 2022 was a truly enriching experience, both professionally and personally.
The program brought together mental health professionals, social workers, and volunteers from across the country, creating a powerful space for shared learning, reflection, and discussion. The sessions offered valuable insights into case work practices, legal frameworks, and on-ground realities related to mental health and gender-based issues.
Beyond the learning, what stayed with me most were the connections formed with like-minded professionals—people driven by compassion, commitment, and a shared vision of creating meaningful social change. These interactions strengthened my perspective and continue to influence my work even today.
This experience reaffirmed my belief that mental health work grows stronger through collective learning, ethical practice, and human connection.
